Google Nexus 7 2016 release date, specs rumors: Smartphone with Andromeda OS; expected to launch before 2017
The upcoming Nexus 7 tablet will reportedly be unveiled before the year ends. Though it hasn't been confirmed, reports are suggesting that the upcoming device will be equipped with an Andromeda operating system (OS).
Tech blogger Evan Blass, who's notorious for his leaks, teased his followers on Twitter that Google is partnering with Huawei to create a 7-inch tablet. According to Blass, Huawei will manufacture the device which will launch by the end of the year. Hence, many speculated that the 7-inch tablet could be the upcoming Nexus 7.
Several rumors about the device have been circulating, but tech enthusiasts are concerned about one particular rumor, the Andromeda OS. According to Neurogadget, the rumored Andromeda OS will reportedly be a combination between the Android and the Chrome OS. Furthermore, rumor has it that Google will be using the alleged OS for its devices starting with the Nexus 7.
A report by Mobile & Apps claimed that the OS will give the tablet desktop capabilities, which will consequently improve multi-tasking features and make it perfect for work. The news outlet also believed that the device will come with an AMOLED display. It will be powered by a Snapdragon 820 and Adreno 530, giving the device a 4 GB RAM capacity. According to the report, the Nexus 7 2016 will have at least 64 GB worth of storage.
Furthermore, the Nexus 7 2016 will reportedly boast a 13-megapixel rear camera. It's also expected to utilize a battery with a 5100 mAh capacity.
Since Google recently rebranded the Nexus smartphones as Pixel and Pixel XL, there have been rumors suggesting that the company might continue to do so. Hence, the alleged Nexus 7 might have the Pixel brand name. Some suggested that the device could be called the Pixel 7. However, Google has yet to respond to the latest allegations, so tech enthusiasts who are excited to get their hands on the upcoming device should treat the reports as speculation until proven otherwise.
