Big news for Android fans and followers as it was recently revealed that the new Android OS has been officially named Nougat.

Now with the newest operating system getting its name, it is only natural that the upcoming Google Nexus phones for 2016 will be coming out of the box preloaded with Android Nougat.

As reported by Ecumenical News, the new Google flagship phones are expected to be out sooner than people expect.

Despite still not having a specific date, many believe that the much-anticipated devices should be out by August.

A recent report from Android Police detailed the rumored specifications of one of the upcoming Nexus phones â€” a model codenamed as Marlin.

One of the two phones being developed by HTC, Marlin is said to be the bigger one. The phone is expected to have a quad-core Qualcomm processor while sporting 4GB of RAM for seamless multitasking.

For the camera, the phone should have a 12-megapixel rear camera, while the front will sport an 8-megapixel snapper. All the photos will be displayed on a 5.5" QHD (2560 x 1440) AMOLED display.

On the other hand, BGR revealed that the smaller Sailfish model will have a 5-inch Full HD AMOLED display, while the processor is quad-core that clocks in at 2.0GHz. The phone will house 4GB of RAM and will have 32GB of storage available. As for the camera, the Sailfish should also have the same specifications as the Marlin.

People are now very interested to see how HTC will ultimately execute the 2016 Google Nexus phones, given that older models were manufactured by other companies like LG and Huawei.

Google has not been shy in trying out other brands and they are banking on HTC's long history of manufacturing mobile phones as they prepare to be Google's flagship.

Expect more news and updates on the upcoming Marlin and Sailfish Nexus phones. The specific release date of both is yet to be announced.
