'Girl Meets World' season 4 updates, cancellation news: Did cast member confirm show's cancellation?

"Girl Meets World" season 4 has been hounded by cancellation rumors especially since Disney, the network which airs the teen series, is keeping mum about the show's fate. Will fans still see Maya and Riley after the current season?

The third season is still currently airing, with episode 15 titled "World of Terror 3" (Halloween special) airing on October 14. Nevertheless, there is no official announcement as to the show's fourth season. The uncertainty is making fans speculate that the series, which has seen tremendous success, will be axed.

Even the stars of the series, Rowan Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter, are clueless about the future of the series. Apparently, Disney is having second thoughts about renewing the series for season 4 since the storyline of the show is vastly changing. The two girls will soon end high school, so their arcs are bound to be "more mature" in time.

Disney sticks to its mantra of airing child-friendly shows or shows targeting a younger audience, and there are speculations they're ditching the show as it will soon be unfit for children to watch.

An online petition has been launched to save the show from imminent cancellation. The online petition is nearing its target 25,000 supporters. Some fans are hoping the series will be moved to Freeform instead of getting axed.

There are even rumors that Blanchard and Carpenter have fired back at Disney. Still, it seems the rumors have since been debunked, including rumors that a spin-off is being cooked up for "Girl Meets World."

Meanwhile, there are reports that actor Uriah Justus, who plays Josh in the series, seemingly confirmed the cancellation of the show. He apparently posted a photo of the entire cast along with cast members of its predecessor, "Boy Meets World," with a cryptic caption.

"I'm going to miss you," he captioned the photo. "It makes me incredibly proud to have been a part of something so special to so many people."

Did Uriah confirm the show's cancellation or was he merely saying goodbye to the cast because he's leaving the show? The answer remains to be seen.

In the meantime, keep coming back for cancellation news and updates about "Girl Meets World" season 4.
