'Girl Meets World' season 4 renewal: Season 3 to be final run?
"Girl Meets World" may not make it to season 4, according to the latest reports. It is being said that the "Boy Meets World" spinoff's time is up.
Fans are growing anxious as they wait for Disney Channel to renew the series. While the current season is halfway through, the filming for season 3 has long been completed.
Because of this, lead star Rowan Blanchard expressed doubts that "Girl Meets World" season 4 will not happen. She took to Twitter to say confirm that a renewal is yet to be announced.
She expressed the same thing when she spoke to SheKnows.com. "I know as much as you do," the young star told the publication when asked about the show's status.
"We are hoping for a Season 4, obviously, because we want to continue our story, and I feel like it's an important story to tell. But as of right now, we just finished [filming] Season 3 and we're still waiting on the word. But we do have more episodes coming out this year that air into early 2017, so we're covered for a little bit," Blanchard continued.
Fans have taken matters into their own hands by starting an online petition on Change.org asking Disney to renew "Girl Meets World" for season 4.
Thousands of fans rallied behind petitioner Ashley Carter with the petition racking up 16,063 supporters at the time of this writing.
Meanwhile, there are rumors that "Girl Meets World" season 4 will happen, but not with Disney. Instead, Freeform will reportedly take over so that the show can tackle for mature themes that its home network would not allow.
This will also give the show the opportunity to run beyond four seasons as Disney is known for giving its shows up to four years on air only.
For now, it appears that Disney is content with "Girl Meets World" season 3, which will wrap up next year. Until then, fans will have to wait for the network's word.
