'Girl Meets World' season 4 cancellation news: Rider Strong says show has ended
Fans have been wondering for months now if "Girl Meets World" was going to be canceled after the end of season 3, but nothing has been confirmed yet. The Disney Channel hasn't made an announcement yet regarding the show's future, but "Boy Meets World" actor Rider Strong may have spilled the beans when he said that "the show ended" on a recent episode of his podcast, Literary Disco.
"We finished the third season of Girl Meets World. My brother and I were directing a lot of episodes and I acted in a couple. And the show ended," Strong stated.
Deadline has reported that Disney Channel has yet to talk to the cast and crew of "Girl Meets World" about the show's future, however, sources say the series will not be renewed and the show will end next month.
Meanwhile, the people behind the official "Girl Meets World" Twitter feed have denied that the studio has decided to end the show. "Whatever happens, it has been a great joy to get to continue this story. If it is over, thank you. If not, we will keep giving our best," the writing staff tweeted.
A tweet presumably from show creator Michael Jacobs also made fun of Strong's character, Shawn, by saying that the character has been wrong before a number of times. "As much as I love Shawn Hunter, having created his character and everything, you have to remember that he was wrong a lot."
Right now, there are only three episodes remaining in the season. Titled "Girl Meets Goodbye," the finale episode is scheduled for Jan. 20 and it will feature "Boy Meets World" alums Strong, Ben Savage, Will Friedle, William Daniels, Lee Norris, Anthony Tyler Quinn, Danny McNulty, William Russ, Betsy Randle, Lily Nicksay and Lindsay Ridgeway.
"Girl Meets World" season 3 episode 19, "World Meets Girl," will air on Friday, Jan. 6, at 8:30 p.m. ET on Disney Channel.
