Rowan Blanchard, who portrays Riley Matthews in the show, recently added sparks to the growing campaign for a fourth season. The actress shared her thoughts on Twitter, saying "So important 4 our gen to be a voice of hope/change & learn from each other. Hoping we continue to have that change #GirlMeetsWorldSeason4." The actress inspired several fans to express their hope for a renewal, tagging the official Disney channel Twitter page in the process.

For months, fans have speculated about the possibility of a cancelation. Although Disney has a few more episodes left before season 3 of "Girl Meets World" ends and before fans go completely crazy, a number of them are taking matters into their own hands. A group of followers have started a petition for a season 4 renewal. The petition currently has 17,092 supporters. To make their request known, fans need to garner 7,908 supporters to reach the 25,000 mark.

For the uninitiated, "Girl Meets World," like its prequel "Boy Meets World," is a coming-of-age story. It follows the lives of the characters who are facing the challenges of growing up. Since the show revolves around high school characters, there are reports implying that the content might eventually lead to more mature issues that are inappropriate for the young audiences of Disney. One of the rumors making rounds suggests that the fourth season of "Girl Meets World" will not be renewed by Disney, but by a different network: Freeform.

The current season will run until 2017; hence, it is too early to say that the show is canceled. Since the network has yet to confirm the latest rumors, fans should treat the reports as speculation until proven otherwise.

Watch out for more updates on "Girl Meets World."
