'Game of Thrones' season 7 theories, spoilers: Identity of Lyanna Mormont to be revealed? Jon Snow to die again?
"Game of Thrones" season 7 has been confirmed for a summer 2017 release, and at this point, several theories are cropping up regarding the upcoming installment.
One theory suggests the identity of Lady Lyanna Mormont's (Bella Ramsey) father. Lyanna was first mentioned in an episode of season 5, and she was subsequently introduced as a recurring character in season 6. She is the daughter of Lady Maege (Elizabeth Barrett).
It is said that when her mother died in the War of the Five Kings, Lyanna ruled Bear island in her stead and eventually took her mother's place in combat. Apparently, Lyanna would play a vital role where Jon Snow (Kit Harington) is concerned.
Die-hard fans of the series took to Reddit to share their predictions about the seventh season as regards the identity of Lyanna's father. Some said it could be Tormund Giantsbane (Kristofer Hivju). It seems the fans based this in one episode of season 4 where Tormund boasted of having bedded a she-bear.
Inquisitr reported that the she-bear Tormund referred to, which he called Shella, was actually Maege. The publication surmised that Tormund tried to conceal the true identity of Maege to protect her and Lyanna from prejudice, seeing as how they are connected to the wildings.
Meanwhile, there are speculations that Jon Snow, who became King of the North at the end of "Game of Thrones" season 6, might be the subject of Cersei Lannister's (Lena Headey) evil ministrations in the upcoming installment.
Movie News Guide said Cersei could connive with Sir Robert (Mark Addy) to kill Jon Snow so he wouldn't get a shot at beating Cersei to the Iron Throne. Another theory suggests that Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen) would brainwash Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) to turn against her brother, promising her control over Winterfell and marrying her after.
On the other hand, Movie Pilot theorizes that Jon would marry Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) to form an alliance with her and together, they would take the Iron Throne. It's an odd thing to surmise, considering they are technically related, but it could be pushed for "political purposes."
All these are theories and speculations connected to "Game of Thrones" season 7. As it is, fans of the show should wait until it premieres in the summer of 2017 before any of the speculations could be confirmed.
