'Game of Thrones' season 7 release date, plot news update: Set photos show Jon Snow and Daenerys meeting for the first time
"Game of Thrones" season six ended with Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) being crowned Queen of Westeros, but little does she know that the Mother of Dragons, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), is already on her way to the Seven Kingdoms to claim the throne; what's more, Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) has just been claimed the King in the North. New set photos have been revealed of Dany and Jon meeting each other for the first time.
The photos come from Just Jared and they feature the meeting of "Ice and Fire." Dany looks to be sporting a more covered costume. Seeing that the lands in the east were extremely hot, Danny always wore light and cool clothing in the show, but now she has to adjust to the cold environment of Westeros.
It was recently revealed that Jon is actually the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, making him the cousin of Dany who is Rhaegar's younger sister. So far, the only person that knows this secret is Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright), but for now he is stuck in the North and he has a long journey ahead of him if he wants to get back to the south of the Wall.
Other images have Jon confronting Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen). Theon was actually one of Robb Stark's (Richard Madden) most trusted friends before he betrayed Robb and sacked Winterfell for himself. Theon has had quite the horrific journey, and he has since allied back with the Greyjoys as he rides along with his sister and Daenerys Targaryen.
In other news, a set video has been leaked of Ser Davos (Liam Cunningham) and Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) interacting with the long-lost Gendry (Joe Dempsie). The video has the three interacting by a beach, and it's revealed that Gendry has learned how to wield a war hammer, much like his father, Robert Baratheon.
"Game of Thrones" season 7 airs sometime next year.
