"Game of Thrones" outdid itself in season 6 as far as massive battles are concerned. The sixth season delivered one of the most talked about episodes of the HBO hit series to date: "Battle of the Bastards." However, if rumors are to be believed, an epic battle is being cooked up for season 7 that will put the said episode to shame.

Vanity Fair reports that "Battle of the Bastards" cost millions of dollars and warranted the use of hundreds of extras, 70 horses, a C.G.I. giant, a massive fleet, some C.G.I. dragons, and so much more. However, there are speculations that "Game of Thrones" season 7 will feature a big battle scene that will satisfy both those who loved the book series and those who faithfully follow the TV series.

According to Watchers on the Wall, the big southern battle being cooked up will be a major departure from past fights fans have seen played out in the series. Apparently, for season 7, it will be Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) in the general's seat leading the battle.

A Spanish-language website, Los Siete Reinos, the content of which Watchers on the Wall translates every so often, reports that HBO is looking to cast 450 extras for this purported epic battle. In fact, according to reports, "some of the extras were asked if they'd be willing to shave their heads as well as their beard."

Should all the speculations about this battle prove true, then fans could expect "Game of Thrones" season 7 to deliver an epic battle of queens – Daenerys and Cersei (Lena Headey) – that will put "Battle of the Bastards" to shame.

Meanwhile, Harper's Bazaar reports that Joe Dempsey, who plays Gendry Baratheon on the series, was recently spotted at a Belfast airport. Belfast is where much of "Game of Thrones'" filming takes place. As far as fans of Dempsey know, he doesn't have any current projects that will land him in the Irish City.

Hence, speculations that he will be back to reprise the role are swirling all over the Internet. Still, HBO has yet to confirm, deny, or comment on this; thus, fans will do well to take the news with a grain of salt.

"Game of Thrones" season 7 is expected to air on HBO summer of 2017.
