The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 both from Samsung are pretty similar in terms of design and specs. But they are actually quite different in terms of size and their batteries.
Design
The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and its bigger sibling the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 are similar in design and both are made from plastic. Both also come with fingerprint scanners which make them pretty similar to the iPad range. As for their back panels, both devices feature soft plastic material with dimples which ensure that they can be held easily. As for size, the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 is wider, thicker and heavier.
Display
The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 has a smaller super AMOLED screen measuring 8.4 inches with a resolution of 1600 x 2560 pixels and a density of 359 pixels per inch. The Galaxy Tab S 10.5 has a larger super AMOLED screen measuring 10.5 inches with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and a density of 288 pixels per inch.
Platform
Both the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 come loaded with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system. As for their specs, both have Exynos 5 Octa 5420 chipsets, coupled with a quad-core Cortex-A15 clocked at 1.9 GHz and quad-core Cortex-A7 clocked at 1.3 GHz CPU, and Mali-T628 MP6 GPU.
