Galaxy S6 Edge vs Xperia Z3 Specs, Price Comparison: Price, Features Review - Latest Samsung Smartphone Outshines Sony Rival
Last year, the Sony Xperia Z3 and the Samsung Galaxy S5 were among the consumers' top choices for a smartphone. This year, however, the premium smartphone from Sony has been completely overshadowed by the Galaxy S6 Edge, the latest curved edge device from Samsung.
Design
The S6 Edge is often described as the most beautiful phone in the world. It earns much of this praise because of its screen that curves over its left and right edges. The curved screen is also functional and can display particular colors assigned to contacts when they call, a night clock, news notifications, pictures of top five contacts and also notifications whether their calls were missed. As for its build, it has a metal frame and Gorilla Glass 4 on its back panel. Coming to the Xperia Z3, it also has a glass back panel and a metal edge with a matte finish. However, it is rather unremarkable in terms of design as it has the standard bezels.
Display
The Xperia Z3 comes with a display that measures 5.3 inches. It's an IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 424 pixels per inch. As for the S6 Edge, it has a better quality display in the form of its super AMOLED touchscreen measuring 5.1 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 577 pixels per inch.
Specs
The S6 Edge has undoubtedly the better specs that can only be approximated by its sibling, the Galaxy S6, in terms of speed. It comes with an Exynos 7420 chipset, and a CPU with eight cores, four clocked at 1.5 GHz and four at 2.1 GHz, along with a Mali-T760MP8 GPU. As for the Xperia Z3, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801chipset, a quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU and an Adreno 330 GPU.
Memory
When it comes to memory slots, the Xperia Z3 comes out ahead as its slot allows for the addition of 128 GB of external storage, while the Galaxy S6 Edge does not have a slot. In terms of RAM both devices have 3GB each.
Price
The 16GB model of the Xperia Z3 is priced at $505 in its unlocked state while the 32 GB Galaxy S6 Edge is priced at $299 with a two-year contract.
