'Flip or Flop' breakup news: Ex-couple still wants to work together on TV show despite split
Now that real estate agents and reality TV hosts Tarek and Christina El Moussa are no doubt heading to Splitsville, does this also mean that their television series, "Flip or Flop," is about to end as well?
It seems like the logical thing to do. Previous rumors have stated that once the year's scheduled filming has fulfilled the estranged couple's contracts with HGTV, "Flip or Flop" will be no more. However, more recent news has suggested that this may not be the case.
A source close to the couple has allegedly told People that Tarek and Christina are still very interested in continuing their shared television series, despite their off-screen disharmony. However, according to TMZ, the decision to move forward with additional seasons already lies in the hands of the network, who will be keeping close tabs on the ratings of each upcoming episode.
The split was triggered by an altercation back in May last year at the ex-couple's Orange County home. They released an official statement about their separation on Dec. 12, addressing this particular incident as an "unfortunate misunderstanding." In early January, Tarek filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences, and he has reportedly asked for joint custody of their children with spousal support from Christina. He has also asked the judge to block his ex-wife from asking spousal support from him in turn.
Although the two of them have each started moving on and dating other people, they both still plan to keep working on their joint television show, saying, "We will continue to work through this process civilly and cooperatively, and plan to continue our professional life together."
In "Double Lot Limbo," the latest episode of "Flip or Flop," the ex-couple made some really desperate risks in an attempt to pull off a flip of the century that almost ended in bad taste. Despite having spent a fortune on remodeling a house that they would've had to sell for $615,000 in order to break even, they were still able to sell the house for $567,000 and the other house beside it for $250,000. In the end, the ex-couple still managed to make almost $200,000 on the deal.
