'Fifty Shades of Grey' 2 Cast News: Jamie Dornan May Return for Sequel Despite Wife's Uneasiness
Fans of the contentious "Fifty Shades of Grey" can now sleep well after Jamie Dornan's representative said the actor is "looking forward" to the next films amid reports that he may not return to play the same role because his wife is not happy to see him baring his body in a movie.
A representative for Dornan, who starred as the young, successful debonair Christian Grey in the recently released film, noted though that the studio behind the movie has not yet made any formal announcements.
"Jamie is delighted that the film is breaking box office records worldwide and whilst the studio has not made any formal announcements about sequels, he is looking forward to making the next film," Dornan's unnamed representative told news.com.au on Thursday.
There were previous rumors that Dornan would not be returning to the big screen anymore as Christian Grey because his wife, actress Amelia Warner, disapproved of his appearance in explicit sex scenes.
According to people.com, the actor dropped a hint at his wife's unease with the film at its U.K. premiere, saying Amelia had not seen the film. "And I don't think she will, to be honest," he said.
NW magazine and The Mirror both reported earlier that the 32-year-old married hunk actor and model had allegedly told film bosses that he would not be returning for the second and third movies.
"Jamie said the movie would skyrocket his career," The Aussie mag quoted an insider as saying. "He tried to assure Amelia nothing would change, but women all over the world now lust after Jamie."
"All press reports are pure conjecture as the studio has not committed to a sequel as yet," Dornan's representative was quoted as telling E! News.
Dornan and Warner have a 15-month-old daughter, Dulcie Dornan.
It would have been highly unlikely, however, for Universal Pictures to allow Dornan to sign on to just one movie, said news.com.au.
The studio has yet to approve the production of a new film, but Johnson has reportedly already signed on for sequels.
Director Sam Taylor-Johnson, however, only signed on for the first film. She was said to have often been in conflict with "Fifty Shades" author E.L. James.
