Is "Fear the Walking Dead" about to introduce a new villainous female? This seems to be the popular opinion these days after it was revealed that Emma Caulfield will be joining the cast in season 3.

These speculations were fueled by Caulfield's past credits. The actress is best known for playing a string of roles with questionable morals like the vengeance demon Anya in "Buffy" and Hansel and Gretel's Blind Witch in "Once Upon A Time." Additionally, even though TV Line has not shared any more details on Caulfield's upcoming guest appearance, rumors have begun spreading that she could possibly be playing the female villainess that co-executive producer Dave Erickson teased in a past interview.

Speaking to Comicbook.com following the end of season 2, Erickson said that a new major female character would be introduced in the "Walking Dead" spinoff series' season 3. This character is expected to have a deep impact on Nick, Luciana, and quite possibly Strand, and she could pose a challenge to any other powerful characters that have already been introduced on the show. When asked if this particular character would be playing a villainous role, Erickson replied that yes, this could be possible.

"The idea is to create opposing forces on either side of the border and see what happens when they end up in conflict and what happens if our family is on opposite sides of the conflict," Erickson said.

Meanwhile, at the recently held National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) in Miami, Colman Domingo, who plays Strand, shared that he appreciated the passionate support that fans have been showing the series' through social media. He also said that, as a way to give back, he would continue to give them updates about the happenings behind the cameras through is Periscope account.

"I want the fans to have that sort of access to know what we're creating for them," Domingo said.

An exact premiere date for "Fear the Walking Dead" season 3 is yet to be announced, but speculations point to a possible April 2017 return.
