FX finally announced a premiere date for the acclaimed anthology drama "Fargo" season 3.

The new installment will premiere on Wednesday, April 19, at 10 p.m. ET, the network confirmed. Reports point out that the spring premiere date is a good move as it guarantees the show's 2017 Emmy eligibility. The next installment in Noah Hawley's series stars Ewan McGregor for a dual role, alongside "Harry Potter" actor David Thewlis, "BrainDead" actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and "The Leftovers" actress Carrie Coon.

Season 3 is set in 2010 and centers on twins with seemingly opposite personalities. Emmit Stussy (McGregor), also known as the Parking Lot King of Minnesota, sees his life as the perfect American success story, while his brother Ray (also McGregor) feels that he is a complete failure in everything. Compared to Emmit's charming and go-getter personality, Ray is a balding and overweight parole officer who blames his twin brother for his misfortunes. Their sibling rivalry leads to a dark and twisted path of murder, mobsters, theft, and competitive bridge.

Loosely based on the original 1996 movie, "Fargo" debuted in 2014 telling a story of a crime gone wrong. Season 1 was set in 2006, and it focused on a crime investigation after the Supermarket King of Minnesota (Oliver Platt) discovered a briefcase filled with money on the side of the road. Season 2, on the other hand, took viewers back to 1979 when State Trooper Lou Solverson (Patrick Wilson) investigated the disappearance of a crime boss' son.

In a previous interview with Yahoo TV, Hawley has already said that the new season will still be tied to the other installments. "There are going to be connections, the way the first year was connected to the movie and the second year was connected to the first," he teased.

Production for season 3 is currently underway in Calgary, Alberta. Other stars confirmed for the new season include Michael Stuhlbarg, Scoot McNairy, Karan Soni, Thomas Mann, and Nikki Swango.
