'Fairy Tail' chapters 515, 516 spoilers: Irene to take over Wendy's body as truth about enchantment magic is revealed

The unfortunate history behind Irene and Erza continues to unravel in the next chapter of the Japanese manga series "Fairy Tail." Despite everything that she's told Erza so far, though, does Irene really have no love left for her one and only daughter?

Chapter 515 titled "I Am You... You Are Me" revealed the circumstances of Erza's birth and her eventual abandonment in the village of Rosemary. It also shed light on the reason behind Irene's seemingly unfaltering loyalty to the dark mage, Zeref. Irene seemed to have cared for the baby in her womb more than she did for herself, and all her present talks about Erza not mattering to her anymore may just be something she feels she needs to do for Erza's own protection.

The next chapter titled "The Truth of Enchantment" may uncover more secrets behind Irene's true feelings for her long-estranged daughter. While it is possible that she may still secretly care for Erza, having spent a hundred years on her own and in dragon form may have indeed altered her feelings for her child. Zeref did also say that when he turned Irene back to being human, she was only human in appearance and nothing more.

Could this be the reason why Irene so quickly lost interest in the child she carried in her womb for more than a hundred years when she failed to take over the child's body and regain her human qualities through an enchantment? Is there really no hope left for mother and daughter to reconcile?

Irene's failed enchantment may have also caused some unfavorable effects on both her and her child, which may also be revealed in the upcoming 516th chapter. The much-anticipated battle between mother and daughter could also finally begin after all is said and done.

Other speculations about the next chapter point to Irene possibly fusing into Wendy's body as it is revealed that enchantment magic she tried to use on Erza failed because a certain compatibility has to be met between two people in order for the magic to work. And being a dragon slayer herself, Wendy may well be the best vessel for Irene to finally regain her humanity.
