'Fairy Tail' chapter 506 spoilers news 2016: Mage guild loses Makarov but may have regained upper ground in war

The ongoing Alvarez arc has led to one tragedy after the other for the Fairy Tail guild. But while the previously presumed deaths have since been reversed, one character's demise may end up being a permanent loss.

"Fairy Tail" chapter 505 titled "Trump Card" saw the death of the powerful wizard saint, Makarov, after he chose to sacrifice himself in to put an end to the merciless slaughter of the Fairy Tail guild members whom he referred to as his "precious little brats."

"Fairy Tail" is a popular manga series written and illustrated by Hiro Mashima and has been serialized on the "Weekly Shounen Jump" magazine since 2006. | Kodansha Comics official website

The three-time guild master still unleashed his powerful magic, the Fairy Law. Weakened by the fight and old age, Makarov's body could no longer endure casting such a large force, and his guild members watched helplessly as he killed himself to give them a fighting chance at life.

But since Eileen had used Berserker to increase the Alvarez soldiers' powers many folds, and said soldiers had in turn lost all sense of reason and pain, did Makarov's sacrifice really put them down permanently, or will the Scarlet Despair cast another wave of her Berserker magic to pull them all back up to their feet again?

The Bitbag speculated that the wizard saint's death will not be in vain as long as the first guild master, Mavis, is in the battlefield to inspire the grieving guild members with the plan she has formulated. The online news outlet also said that if Gray and Natsu had not been so consumed by the darkness inside them, they would've been able to work together to defeat the Alvarez soldiers themselves, thus preventing Makarov's sacrifice.

But what's done is done and in chapter 506 titled "Broken Bonds," everybody will be forced to face the reality that despite their best efforts to keep each other alive, they still lost a great warrior in Makarov.

Meanwhile, iTech Post speculated that the elder mage's death may serve as a catalyst for the Fairy Tail guild members to come together and work side by side to drive the Alvarez Empire out of their land once and for all. The powerful blast of Makarov's Fairy Law may have also knocked the warring Gray and Natsu back to their senses.
