Demi Moore has recently booked a major recurring gig in Fox's hit musical drama "Empire" season 3.

According to reports, the actress will play the role of a no-nonsense nurse with a mysteriously dark past. Moore's yet-to-be-named character will make her debut after the show's midseason premiere next month. She will also appear in the season three finale and will later recur on the fourth season.

Moore joins previously announced musicians and actors who were confirmed to guest star this spring, including Eva Longoria, Taye Diggs, Phylicia Rashad, Nia Long, and Moore's daughter, Rumer Willis.

The back half of season 3 kicks off with the escalating tension between Lucious (Terrence Howard) and Cookie (Taraji P. Henson). Their conflict will reach new heights, leading to their biggest war yet. After getting Angelo (Taye Diggs) out of his way, Lucious lets everyone know about Inferno, his new music project. Determined to get back what is rightfully hers, Cookie promises to knock her ex-husband off his throne.

The news of Moore's casting comes after co-creator Lee Daniels confirmed that a spinoff series is already being developed. "We're in talks," he told The Hollywood Reporter last month. "We're finally figuring it out. It takes a minute, you know? We just really had to build the foundation of Empire, so we then try to figure out what that B-chorus is. It looks like it's going to happen." When asked for further details, Daniels was tight-lipped on whether the spinoff will be for the current season or a planted episode that is also a back-door pilot.

As for the upcoming show's premise, it was previously rumored that it could be a prequel centered on Cookie's life before she met her husband. "It could be," he added. "We're having all these ideas thrown around to figure it out. But I can officially say that we will be having a spinoff," Daniels went on to say.

The third season of "Empire" returns on Wednesday, March 22, at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
