Emilia Clarke joins cast of Star Wars spin-off
"Game of Thrones" actress Emilia Clarke, who portrays Daenerys Targaryen in HBO's TV adaptation, is bound for a new adventure. Clarke has recently been cast in the upcoming "Star Wars" spin-off film, which will be about the young Han Solo.
Though it has been revealed that the mother of dragons will be joining the film, her character has yet to be named. It is still unsure if Clarke will portray the female lead, but recent speculations suggest that she might portray Solo's wife. The press release didn't reveal much information about her upcoming part. They wrote, "Clarke's role will round out a dynamic cast of characters that Han and Chewie will encounter on their adventures."
The legendary character, which Harrison Ford brought to life, will be portrayed by a younger Hollywood actor. "Hail, Caesar!" actor Alden Ehrenreich beat out the rest of Hollywood for the role. Meanwhile, "Community" alum Donald Glover will portray Solo's ally, Lando Calrissian.
The film, which has yet to be named, is expected to unveil the exploits of the young Solo. It will finally bring some answers to decades' worth of questions about the character.
Since the film is not going to launch anytime soon, fans of the franchise can enjoy another spin-off movie titled "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." The film will be launched in the U.S. on Dec. 16. It will feature the adventures of a group of young rebels who are on a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star. It will feature a headstrong female character named Jyn Erso, who is portrayed by "The Theory of Everything" actress Felicity Jones.
The untitled "Star Wars" spin-off movie about Han Solo's youth is expected to launch sometime in 2018. It will be spearheaded by "The Lego Movie" directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.
