'Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2' news, update: Black Goku now officially part of roster; other 'Dragon Ball Super' fighter included
There are only a few days left before the fans can have their copy of Bandai Namco's much awaited fighting video game sequel, "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2." The game will be featuring both the old and new characters of the highly popular "Dragon Ball" anime series by Akira Toriyama. Just recently, another popular character in the anime series' present arc was confirmed to be part of the roster.
As reported by Game Rant, the reigning villain of "Dragon Ball Super," Black Goku, was seen in the latest gameplay footage released by Bandai Namco for "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2." This finally puts the months-long speculation of the fans regarding the new "Dragon Ball" character being featured as a playable character in the game. Some players doubt that Black Goku might not make it to the game's current roster as his character was only revealed in "Dragon Ball Super" a few months ago.
To those who are not that familiar yet with the present story arc of "Dragon Ball Super," Black Goku is the evil persona in Future Trunks' timeline that bears the same appearance and power of the series' protagonist, Son Goku. However, it was later on revealed that Black Goku and the other villain, Zamasu, are one and the same person, due to the latter stealing Goku's body.
The latest gameplay footage shows Black Goku as an almost similar character to Goku in terms of physical appearance and fighting style. However, with Goku's famous Kamehameha technique, Black Goku's energy wave is darker and purple in color. It is not yet known what role will Black Goku play in the game, but it is possible that he will conspire with the game's villains to travel back and forth in time, thanks to his Time Ring.
On the other hand, another "Dragon Ball Super" character, Hit, is also confirmed to be a playable character in "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2," Game Transfers reported. Hit is known to be Goku's strongest opponent in the Universe 6 versus Universe 7 tournament in the series.
"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" will be released on Oct. 25 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC from Steam, according to Gematsu.
