'Doctor Strange' spoiler: Dan Harmon may have leaked the appearance of a classic villain
It wasn't too long ago when it was revealed that "Rick and Morty" co-creator Dan Harmon had been hired to do some re-writes for Marvel's "Doctor Strange," but a screen grab of Harmon's desktop during last month's San Diego Comic-Con has revealed a document titled "Strange Confronts Dormammu," hinting that the movie may have the Sorcerer Supreme going after the Lord of the Dark Dimension.
Harmon did not intend to release this information. His original plan for sharing his desktop was to tease the audience about what to expect in the future of "Community." It looks like the cat is out of the bag, though, and fans will be expecting an appearance from the fiery villain.
Before the Dormammu leak, the only villain that the fans were expecting in the movie was Mad Mikkelsen's Kaecilius. Baron Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) is also a prominent "Doctor Strange" villain, but so far, the trailers have revealed him to be Strange's (Benedict Cumberbatch) ally. Perhaps the movie will find Mordo jealous of Strange's prowess as the student of the Ancient One, prompting him to switch sides.
Dormammu is one of the most popular villains in the "Doctor Strange" lore. In the comics, the Ancient One was not even powerful enough to face Dormammu, raising the stakes when it was time for Doctor Strange to face him in the Dark Dimension.
Some fans are guessing that Dormammu's appearance may be some sort of cameo since the movie appears to be dealing with traveling to other dimensions. His appearance could even be some sort of post-credits scene.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is getting more and more ties with "Community." Aside from the Russo Brothers directing future "Avengers" films, the MCU has had cameos from Danny Pudi (Abed) and Jim Rash (Dean Pelton). Now that they have the show's creator working on their scripts, what's next?
"Doctor Strange" is scheduled to premiere on Nov. 4, 2016.
