'Doctor Strange' release date and updates: Movie will be released earlier outside the U.S.
The next film in the Marvel Phase 3 lineup is Scott Derickson's "Doctor Strange" starring Benedict Cumberbatch. Although the movie is slated for a Nov. 4 release date in the United States, it will come out 10 days earlier in the United Kingdom on Oct. 25th. The movie will premiere in Russia on Oct. 28.
Some people don't consider it much of a surprise that the movie releases earlier outside the U.S. because Disney has been known to do the same thing before.
To accompany the announcement of the shift in the release date, a promo image has also been released of Cumberbatch, in full garb as the Sorcerer Supreme, standing in the Sanctum Sanctorum. The symbol on the window is called the Seal of Vishanti and it has the power to repel any unwelcome supernatural elements from entering the Sanctum. It is also known as the Window of Worlds.
There is also another official poster released for the movie and it shows Doctor Strange taking a surreal walk around London. A new tagline for the movie comes with the poster saying, "The impossibilities are endless."
"Doctor Strange" is considered to be the last superhero movie to come out this year, following the likes of "Captain America: Civil War," "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," "Deadpool," "X-Men: Apocalypse," and "Suicide Squad." So far, the only movies in the list that have received massive praise are "Civil War" and "Deadpool." This is why fans are expecting "Doctor Strange" to be another homerun from Marvel.
"Doctor Strange" follows the story of Dr. Stephen Strange who, after losing the use of his hands in an accident, attempts to learn the ways of ancient magic and master the manipulation of parallel dimensions. Mads Mikkelsen plays the villain in the movie, Kaecilius.
