'Doctor Strange' release date and news: New synopsis and teaser revealed
This November will mark the arrival of the second installment of Marvel Studios' phase 3 lineup, "Doctor Strange." The movie stars "Sherlock" actor Benedict Cumberbatch, and he plays the role of Sorcerer Supreme, Dr. Stephen Strange. A new teaser of the cast talking about the movie in more detail was recently released. This gives audiences a new look on some things in the movie.
In the video, Cumberbatch talks about the character of Strange and how he is an arrogant (yet brilliant) neurosurgeon. Fans would recognize a sort of parallel with another Marvel regular, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). His debut in 2008's "Iron Man" has led fans to instantly fall in love with the cocky genius billionaire. With Stephen Strange, it looks like he will also be going through a life-changing experience as well.
After a car accident makes him lose the use of his hands, Strange will spend all of his money on operations just to get his hands fixed. According to Tilda Swinton, who portrays the Ancient One, Strange will use the last of his fortune to book a ticket to Nepal where he runs into her character.
In another synopsis that has been leaked online, it is revealed that the enclave where Strange meets the Ancient One is known as the Kamar-Taj. He will go there to look for healing but instead he will discover that the place serves as the frontlines of an unseen battle against dark forces bent on destroying the Earth.
Strange will get to use all of his new magical abilities but it will lead him to a difficult choice: Will he return to his life of wealth and fame or will he give it all up to protect the world as the most powerful sorcerer in existence?
"Doctor Strange" hits theaters Friday, Nov. 4, 2016.
