'Doctor Strange' release date and news: Chiwetel Ejiofor talks about Baron Mordo
The release of Marvel's "Doctor Strange" is almost here and marketing for the movie has gone full blast. A new TV spot showcases Doctor Strange's (Benedict Cumberbatch) ability to possibly alter time. Chiwetel Ejiofor also talks more about his character, Baron Mordo.
The teaser is only 31 seconds long but it has a lot of new footage that was never shown in the previous trailers. The clip has Strange stopping time as Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelsen) tries to attack him. It rewinds all the way to Strange's accident and the time when he was still a surgeon.
The TV spot may give a clue as to the psychedelia that the movie is aiming for but could it possibly be a spoiler? Would Strange use time travel to undo all of the trouble he went through? Surely Marvel Studios is smart enough not to give away the entire movie in a 30-second teaser.
In other news, Chiwetel Ejiofor talks more about the decision to turn Baron Mordo into Strange's ally rather than his rival. In an interview with Collider, he says that Mordo would not turn on Strange just because of petty jealousy.
He says, "I don't think of him as a kind of envious or jealous entity. I think he's much purer than that... His loyalty is so committed – to the ideas of Kamar-Taj, to the reality of Kamar-Taj, and to the Ancient One that he would react to any perceived threat but it wouldn't come from a place of envy but from a place of protection and loyalty."
He also says that the move to turn Mordo into an ally is in contrast with his two-dimensional character in the comics. Hopefully, fans would be happy with Ejiofor's portrayal of Baron Mordo.
"Doctor Strange" comes to cinemas on Nov. 4.
