'Dishonored 2' news and updates: Beta patch released to resolve PC bugs
Developer Arkane Studios and game publisher Bethesda Softworks have recently launched a beta update to address the PC performance issues of one of the most anticipated game this year, "Dishonored 2."
"Dishonored 2" still features Corvo Attano, the playable character who is bound to protect her daughter, Emily Kaldwin. Emily becomes another playable character option of the game whose main goal is to take back her throne as an empress.
Bethesda Softworks announced the beta patch and said, "When Dishonored 2 was launched, the game experienced PC performance problems on machines with specific configurations. We're working to address some of these with our updates over time, and some will be addressed by driver updates released by our partners."
The first update will primarily address the framerate issues. With that, Bethesda said, "Today we're beginning the process with new NVIDIA PC drivers (375.95) and our first post-release title update (Update 1.1)."
Bethesda advised PC users with Nvidia graphics card to download first the newly released driver before playing. On the other hand, PC players with Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) cards can still use the recommended driver 16.10.2.
"Dishonored 2" update 1.1 includes mouse improvement "including a fix for sensitivity being framerate dependent," a fix for an issue in an AMD cloth physics that also affects the framerate performance of the game, and lastly, the patch will address an issue related to the central processing unit (CPU) in which task priority is switched.
To access the beta patch, players will need to log in to their Steam account. Right-clicking on the "Dishonored 2" library will open a menu where players will need to select Properties, then, choose Betas. When a drop-down menu appears, players will just have to choose BetaPatch and select OK. It will take a few minutes for the game to be updated. After the update, "Dishonored 2 [Beta Patch]" will appear on the PC player's library.
Bethesda promised to continue working on "Dishonored 2" and revealed that the development of update 1.2 is in the pipeline to address more issues including performance. It is estimated to be available next week.
