'Devious Maids' season 5 canceled or renewed news: On the verge of cancellation? No news of the show's renewal
The fifth season of "Devious Maids" is currently having trouble with getting renewed. Apparently, Lifetime has been quiet about renewing the show for a fifth season, and even showrunner Sabrina Wind seemed unsure about the future of the show.
According to Parent Herald, the fourth season has had the trouble of getting ratings as high as the previous season. The latest season was said to have ranked about 0.30 in the 18-49 demographic; season 3 had 0.46 (1.36 million viewers) when it came out the previous year.
The final episode of the last season was titled "Grime and Punishment," and the identity of Peri's (Mariana Klaveno) killer had been revealed. If the fifth season gets picked up, the show will likely see the return of Dani's (Rosie Falta) father back into Carmen's (Roselyn Sanchez) life. When asked about it, EP Sabrina Wind said, "100,000 percent! I'm hoping the character is this incredibly hot, wonderful man who's going to come back into Carmen's life and challenge where she is and what she's about."
Wind also clarifies what happened between Evelyn (Rebecca Wisocky) and Adrian (Tom Irwin) in the finale. Some fans are thinking that the two have decided to remarry, but Wind stomps down on that theory and confirms that the two are getting divorced. She said, "They signed those papers with the judge, and 10 seconds later, they consummated that divorce. It's really as if they were created just to torment each other forever. But will they be remarried? I don't know!"
The season is also said to focus on what will happen to Marisol (Ana Ortiz) after it was revealed that the director of her movie, Hugh Metzger (Sam McMurray), had raped her and assaulted Peri. She had kept quiet this whole time because of an agreement with Hugh's daughter to turn her into a star. She only turned him in when she caught him attempting to rape another woman at her party.
As of now, the future of the show is still up in the air. But if renewed, the fifth season would most likely air next year.
