Destiny PC Release Date: 2014 Launch Unlikely at This Time

The latest version of Destiny has been launched on the PS3, PS4, XBOX One and XBOX 360 early this month but fans have been wondering if a PC version will be released this year.

The purpose of the most recent multi-generational release was to get the game to as many hands possible. Activision CEO Erik Hirshberg said in an interview with Polygon, "It is [a good fit], and it's something we're talking about and looking at very carefully, and obviously it makes a lot of sense with the genre and the type of game it is", when asked about the release of the Destiny game for PC.

"Again, no announcements, but it's something that's a heavy point of discussion. And you asked how we are dealing with the complexity of developing for so many platforms, how about one more on top of that?" he added.

The CEO also commented on the development of the game saying, "You know, developing on PC is a different animal than developing for consoles and so we just want to make sure that we're putting one foot in front of the other and getting it right, and that it's of the highest possible quality. But obviously I see the same things about the natural fit."

So yes, Activision is likely to be coming closer to bringing the game into the good ol' PC platform. The question is how long it will take them to do the development work. With how things are going, a 2014 release is not likely to occur.

As to a 2015 release, that's another thing entirely, so stay tuned!
