'Destiny 2' release date, news, rumors: Next 'Destiny' installment will have PC version; Sequel to introduce all-new story, characters?
Bungie, the game studio behind the highly successful first-person shooter video game "Destiny," has not yet announced its plans to develop a "Destiny" sequel. However, there is nothing to stop the fans from speculating the future of the game. For now, "Destiny 2" is believed to appear sometime next year, and according to the latest rumors, the players will see a lot of changes happening.
According to Kotaku, the fans of "Destiny" may not see the same world and characters featured in the first game. If anything, "Destiny 2" will be a totally new game that has no direct relation to its predecessor. It is not going to be a sequel, but rather a different narrative with its own set of characters. This is due to the changes happening inside Bungie, where the company has reportedly cut down its number of employees. As those game developers originally involved in the development of the first "Destiny" have now transferred to other companies, the remaining bulk of employees in Bungie will be the one assigned for the sequel. With this, Bungie will not be able to do a direct follow-up to the first "Destiny" game.
Nevertheless, even with an all-new universe for the next "Destiny" title, the fans can still expect the same quality of gameplay for "Destiny 2." In fact, the fans can expect a bunch of new features in the game next year. Kotaku reported that "Destiny 2" may feature the so-called "play-in destinations," wherein the usually unpopulated planets in the first game will now have towns, outposts, and respective quests.
Meanwhile, Express UK reported that "Destiny 2" will not only be exclusive for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One home consoles. The anticipated game sequel for next year is now rumored to have a PC version as well. However, as Bungie has no official statement yet regarding the "Destiny 2" plans, the fans should take these initial reports with a grain of salt.
