'Deadpool 2' release date rumors: Wolverine to appear; Fox and IMAX confirm an untitled Marvel film, possibly 'Deadpool 2'?
"Deadpool" was a massive success for 20th Century Fox, and the movie is considered to be one of the most successful R-Rated films of all time. Fox and IMAX have just issued a press release saying that the companies have chosen to extend their partnerships, and they mention an untitled Marvel movie in the works. Could it be "Deadpool 2?"
According to the press release, CEO of IMAX Entertainment Greg Foster said, "After sharing success with such recent box-office hits as the global phenomenon 'Deadpool,' we are thrilled to sweeten the existing deal with our friends and partners at Twentieth Century Fox by providing IMAX fans worldwide a selection of the studio's most exciting upcoming blockbusters."
The statement also states that the deal includes movies like "Maze Runner: The Death Cure," "Predator," "Alita: Battle Angel," and the studio's untitled Marvel film.
Since there was a mention of "Deadpool" in the statement, some are led to believe that the untitled Marvel film may be "Deadpool 2." If that is not the case, the other Marvel films that Fox is preparing as of the moment are "New Mutants," "Gambit," "Fantastic Four 2," and a Stan Lee biopic.
Hugh Jackman's "Wolverine 3" is also set to come out in 2017, and two untitled Marvel films are said to come out on March 2, 2018 and June 29, 2018.
Speaking of Wolverine, reports are saying that he will be making an appearance in "Deadpool 2." In "Deadpool's" post-credits scene, Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) confirmed that the sequel will feature Cable, a time-travelling mutant.
Reports say that Cable will be running into Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) in the future when he moves from timeline to timeline. Of course, this has not been confirmed, but it would be very interesting to see Jackman and Reynolds interact onscreen as Deadpool and Wolverine, as the two celebrities have an ongoing friendly feud in real life.
"Deadpool 2" is rumored to come out in 2018.
