A lot of fans were shocked when they found out that Tim Miller, director of the highly successful "Deadpool" movie, quit the sequel. As of now, 20th Century Fox is scrambling to find someone else to helm the project, and one of the directors in the short list is said to be "John Wick" helmer, David Leitch.

According to Variety, Leitch has already been hired by Fox to helm the project, but Deadline says that other directors like Drew Goddard and Magnus Martens are also being considered for the project.

"John Wick" was considered to be one of the most adventurous action movies to come out in recent years, so it would make sense to hire Leitch to bring some of his action chops to direct "Deadpool 2."

Goddard, however, has already proven his mettle with comic book material like Netflix's "Daredevil." He has also worked on Ridley Scott's "The Martian" and he is onboard as executive producer for the upcoming Marvel Netflix series, "The Defenders."

Magnus Martens has worked more on the TV side of things, but he has also been involved with comic book-based series like "Luke Cage" and "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."

Mr. Sunday Movies from Youtube points out that Miller's departure may not entirely be a bad thing. Though he was in charge of the action and style of the movie, the writers and Ryan Reynolds himself were responsible for the unique humor that was brought to the screen. Surely when "Deadpool 2" comes out, it will have a proper balance of action and comedy, the two elements that made the first movie so successful.

As of now, Miller is said to have moved on to helm an upcoming "Sonic the Hedgehog" movie, so fans can look forward to more of his work in the future.

"Deadpool 2" is set to come out on Jan. 12, 2018.
