The sequel to the major hit "X-Men" franchise film, "Deadpool," has finally found a new director as producers recruited David Leitch. The new "Deadpool 2" director is also behind another successful action movie franchise "John Wick."

Leitch will take over the director's seat, which was earlier left by Tim Miller due to reported "creative differences" with Ryan Reynolds, who plays as the well-loved anti-hero "X-Men" character and is one of the film's producers as well.

After a few days when Miller reportedly left the film, Leitch's name was one of the several other names that floated to rescue the hanging film process.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the producers and studio were also meeting other prospects such as directors Rupert Sanders from "Snow White and the Huntsman," Drew Goddard who worked on the Marvel-Netflix series "Daredevil" and Magnus Martens who directed another Marvel series on Netflix "Luke Cage" before Leitch got the gig.

The same report mentioned that the new "Deadpool 2" director met with Reynolds in New York and subsequently got the offer.

"Deadpool" was one of the unexpected successful films this year that bagged $754 million box office record, highest record for the "X-Men" film franchise out of a relatively small $58 million budget. The success was made possible by the tandem of Reynolds and Miller alongside great screenwriters Simon Kinberg, and Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

Before Miller left the making of "Deadpool 2," there were several advances with the creative process such as short-listing the probable actress to play the role of Domino. However, there is no official announcement yet on who to play the role of Cable.

In an interview with GQ, Reynolds had nothing but good words for Miller saying, "All I can really add is that I'm sad to see him off the film. Tim's brilliant and nobody worked harder on 'Deadpool' than he did."

"Deadpool 2" is slated to hit the movie theaters on March 2018.
