Daytime Emmy Awards 2015 Nominees: 'General Hospital,' 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show,' Most Bids Earned By CBS
"General Hospital" topped the list of nominees in the 42nd yearly Daytime Emmy Awards, gathering nearly 30 nominations.
ABC's medical drama earned 28 nominations, including bids in the lead actor and actress and best drama, Variety has reported.
CBS' "The Young and the Restless" and "The Bold and the Beautiful" are also in the running, with 25 and 19 nominations, respectively. The two soaps and NBC's "Days of Our Lives" also compete in the best drama category. The three are the only remaining soaps in their respective networks, Variety noted.
Meanwhile, "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" led the race among talk shows with its 10 nominations. "The Wendy Williams Show" is a newcomer in the race, gathering its first nominations for best entertainment talk show and for entertainment talk show host.
Also in the competition among talk shows are CBS' "The Talk" and the syndicated "Live With Kelly and Michael."
Williams is competing for the host honors alongside Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan and the big names of "The Talk:" Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Aisha Tyler and Sheryl Underwood.
Among game shows, CBS' "The Price is Right" and the syndicated "Family Feud" and "Jeopardy" are among the top runners.
Craig Ferguson of "Celebrity Name Game" is competing for top game show host with "Feud's" Steve Harvey, "Wheel of Fortune's" Pat Sajak and Todd Newton of Discovery Family Channel's "Family Game Night."
CBS earned the most number of nominations with 62. PBS came in second with 50, syndicated series with 59, ABC with 35, and NBC with 20.
The Daytime Emmycast this year will air on April 26 on the Pop network, formerly known as TV Guide Network.
The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is looking to restore stature to the event after years of decline, with last year's ceremony being snubbed even by winners after it was only aired as a webcast.
