'Dark Souls III' DLC release date, news: First PvP trailer released for the game
Oct. 25 will mark the release of the downloadable content (DLC) "Ashes of Ariandel" for Form Software's "Dark Souls III" and it looks like it will be allowing multiplayer settings for the gamers. A new trailer has been revealed for the DLC, and it showcased the different multiplayer options that players will get to choose from.
Aside from other clips of the new monsters and settings of the world of Ariandel, the trailer also showed that players have the option to band together, duel other players, battle against another group of players, and betray people within their teams — all in the icy setting of Ariandel.
Interestingly enough, the town in the game, Ariandel, sounds pretty similar to the name Arendelle, the town that was put under ice in the Disney hit movie, "Frozen." Even the "Ashes of Ariandel" trailer focused on a woman with unique powers. Fans are still holding their breath to find out if her name is Elsa. The story of "Frozen" was inspired from Norway, so perhaps Ariandel in the game got its inspiration from a similar source.
Some fans aren't really too eager for the new multiplayer options because they think that it doesn't really bring anything new that duels already bring to the table, but the trailer was able to keep them interested.
'Dark Souls III: Ashes of Ariandel' will be Form Software's last foray into the franchise as creator of the series, Hidetaka Miyazaki, has said to GGN Gamer that the company will be delving more into making different games. He said, "I'm considering 'Dark Souls 3' to be the big closure on the series... From Software and myself together want to aggressively make new things in the future."
Miyazaki, however, is still open to having some other team in his developing studio pick up the franchise for future "Dark Souls" games.
"Dark Souls III: Ashes of Ariandel" will be released on Oct. 25.
