Dallas Mavericks trade rumors 2016: Bogut and Barnes roles revitalized

After adding a few new faces in the team, the Dallas Mavericks are suddenly looking good and can possibly make some noise in the Western Conference.

The Mavericks have never gone through the rebuilding stage; the owner may not believe in that and their biggest star Dirk Nowitzki certainly does not.

And the moves they've done so far in the summer has shown fans that they are still doing the best they can with what the market has to offer in putting together a decent team that can make the playoffs.

Easily two of the most high-profile moves for the Mavericks have been the acquisitions of Andrew Bogut and Harrison Barnes from the Golden State Warriors.

The two have championship experience, with a title ring from the 2014-15 season, and the hunger to prove their worth after being let go from a contender.

For Bogut, his display in the Rio Olympics has sparked talks that the former top pick of the 2005 draft can play an integral role in a team.

At first, Bogut was a big question mark for one of their Olympic opponents, Australia, as he suffered a knee injury in the last NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

However, he made it to the team and has thrived as the leader on both ends, helping the team reach a 4-1 record in the group stages.

Though he has not displayed great numbers, his average of 10.3 points and 8.9 rebounds per game should be something good for the Mavericks and easily something they can improve on later on in the season.

On the other hand, Barnes is the younger player and much more is expected of him.

After signing a $94 million deal, Barnes now sees himself having a main role and not just a side player like with the Warriors.

Before, Barnes was either used as a decoy or utilized when the primary stars are having trouble, but with the Mavericks, he should have a bigger role to play and could also be the main stars they will rely on each night.

In four seasons in the league, Barnes averages 10.1 points per game and he shoots 45 percent from the field.

Now he will look to add to his output and the Mavericks are hoping that the money they spent on him will all be worth it.
