Dallas Cowboys trade rumors 2016: Dak Prescott fitting nicely into role

Before the season started, things were pretty positive for the Dallas Cowboys as they hoped for a better season compared to last year. However, this quickly came to a halt when veteran quarterback Tony Romo went down due to an injury.

Immediately, Cowboys fans believed the season was going to be another long and disappointing one. And now on week two of the 2016 season, the Cowboys have a 1-1 record and things are back to looking positive with Dak Prescott as the team's gunslinger.

In one of this better performances so far, Prescott was all over the action during the battle against the Washington Redskins and he appeared to be confident in his spot on the team.

In total, Prescott threw 30 passes and completed 22 of those for 292 yards, averaging an impressive 9.7 yards per throw.

Even more impressive is how he had one rush that resulted in a touchdown, a great sign of the intelligence he had while under pressure.

Naturally, many are now questioning whether Prescott should be the first choice for quarterback for the rest of the season, as Romo may now be considered a risk given that he is prone to pick up injuries.

Fox Sports was quick to report that Prescott did not buy into this controversy, revealing that he knows that the Cowboys is still Romo's team.

Speaking to reporters, Prescott said: "This is Romo's team. I've said that from the moment that I was named the starter and he went down. I'm just trying to do my best to win games and put this team in a successful position to do that week in and week out and when he comes back, I'll leave that up to the big guys."

These are only a few of the things that are coming out of a rookie. Some give rookie quarterbacks a longer leash so they are given room to grow, but for the Cowboys, it appears that they have one level-headed quarterback who is ready to take on the role of the main star — but only when the time is right.
