Dallas Cowboys roster news: Prescott continues to shine for Cowboys
Already in Week 3, the Dallas Cowboys are still riding high with Dak Prescott as their starting quarterback.
At the moment, the Cowboys' record is 2-1 which is good enough for third in the NFC East standings. This is not a bad thing as they are only behind the New York Giants and the unbeaten Philadelphia Eagles.
Behind it all is a great coincidence that Tony Romo is out due to a back injury and back-up quarterback Kellen Moore broke his leg in training camp. These incidents gave Prescott the chance to emerge as a good quarterback.
In their last game against the Chicago Bears, Prescott had another great game as he finished with 248 passing yards and a touchdown.
Now, many are thinking if Dallas really needs Romo back at all.
Prescott knows that the team is Romo's to lead and Prescott is only there to play in his absence, but his stellar performance has caused many to believe that there is no hurry to have Romo back in the lineup.
Head coach Jason Garrett applauded Prescott's performances, saying to UPI: "He plays with such poise and composure, and he focuses himself and executing ball plays. He's done that all along."
These are big words coming from a coach who is used to a reliable and elite quarterback like Romo.
Other critics who gave safe expectations to the young quarterback before the season started are now also changing their tune with Prescott.
Now, Prescott is turning into a legitimate threat in the QB spot for the Cowboys. This is definitely a good problem for the team as they have a very reliable player who can be the future of the franchise.
Romo is still the best player, and he will be back on the field when he is ready. But the Cowboys may have found his replacement and it will only be helpful in the long run.
