'Criminal Minds' season 12 fall finale spoilers: Damon Gupton joins the show tonight as seasoned profiler Stephen Walker
The new Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) under the tutelage of Unit Chief Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster) continues to evolve with another member boarding the team in tonight's "Criminal Minds."
As earlier reported, "Bates Motel" actor Damon Gupton is set to take on the role of the seasoned profiler named Stephen Walker. The upcoming episode of the police procedural will be treating fans to their first look at the new squad member who happens to be a personal recruit from Prentiss. In a sneak peek courtesy of TVLine, JJ (A.J. Cook) and Alvez (Adam Rodriguez) walks through a creek as they investigate the case at hand when they casually talk about the new recruit heading their way. Alvez speculates that the person in question could be a former colleague of their new chief from Interpol and then belatedly adding that whoever he is, he is just happy to shed off the "newbie" title. The more veteran JJ, on the other hand, settles for being happy to get additional help presumably since Mr. Scratch (Bodhi Elfman) is still on the loose.
In light of this new development, Aisha Tyler, whose Tara Lewis character was the most recent victim of Peter's mischiefs, shares that everyone is excited to have Gupton on the show. "Damon's just a great guy and a great actor and I think a really great addition to the team. [Stephen] is a longtime FBI agent with a particular set of skills and joins us and we're thrilled to have him. [Damon's] a lovely guy and incredibly talented," she told Seattle PI in a recent chit chat.
Meanwhile the team's case for the episode titled "Scarecrow" has them flying to Yakima, Washington to investigate the dozens of cadavers found along the creek bed. While it is still uncertain whether this is one of Mr. Scratch's doing or not, Tyler reveals that the notorious serial killer is set to wreak havoc for a bit longer as he continues to play mind games with the profiling team.
"He's a game player for sure. I think he's going to haunt the BAU for quite a while," the actress said.
"Criminal Minds" season 12 airs every Wednesday, 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
