Cleveland Cavaliers trade rumors: Cavs looking for pieces with Williams retiring

Mo Williams has officially retired from professional basketball and it has a big impact on the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Initially, it was thought that Williams would be returning for one more year with the Cavaliers; as shown by his tweet a few days ago.

Many believed that it was a good idea as it would give the Cavaliers a reliable point guard as they will try to defend the championship they won.

Unfortunately, the point guard had a change of heart and reports revealed that he had already played his last game in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

This has resulted in the Cavaliers being short in the point guard position, with reports revealing that the team has approached different veteran point guards on who would be interested in the job.

Names like Norris Cole, Kirk Hinrich and Mario Chalmers have been linked to the position, but at the moment there is still no news on who would be the man to replace Mo.

Among those three names, Cole and Chalmers are the more realistic targets as they have had a relationship with the Cavaliers' best player, LeBron James.

It is more likely that they would get someone who is used to playing with James in order to immediately have chemistry.

However, losing Williams is a big blow to the team as he is a legitimate scorer aside from being a reliable point guard.

In his long career, Williams averaged 13.2 points while shooting 43 percent from the field. He is also very reliable from beyond the arc as he is a 38 percent shooter from beyond the arc.

As part of the Cavaliers last year, Williams averaged only 8.2 points per game and played in only 41 games in the regular season, but he did earn an NBA championship from that and it was hoped that the Cavaliers would still have Williams in the lineup as a reliable backup.
