'Civilization VI' update, news: Jadwiga and her Polish army get ready to spread their culture around the world

Firaxis Games has added a new civilization to "Civilization VI" just in time for the holiday season, so get ready to get "culture bombed" by Jadwiga and her Polish army.

As seen in the trailer, Poland may convert one military policy slot into a wildcard slot, and this should give them more flexibility. The civilization also has the unique ability called Golden Liberty. This ability allows Poland to gain extra territory simply by building a fort or encampment. When the military base is built, all tiles adjacent to the structure will become Polish territory — even the tiles belonging to other civilizations. This allows Poland to rapidly expand its cultural borders.

And that's where Jadwiga's unique leadership ability comes into play. With her Lithuanian Unions ability, Poland may spread the religion they founded to enemy cities that have lost territory to the Golden Liberty ability. The religion will then become the majority religion in the city. Furthermore, relics will provide additional faith, culture and gold.

Unsurprisingly, Poland's unique unit is the Winged Hussar. The unit was already featured in the "Civilization VI" launch trailer, so it was only a matter of time before it shows up in the game. The cavalry unit has the ability to push an enemy unit a tile back if it deals more damage than it receives. Furthermore, if the enemy unit has nowhere else to run it takes additional damage. Enemies who are in front of mountain tiles are going to be in a world of hurt if the Winged Hussar attacks them.

Poland's unique district is the Suekiennice. This building provides extra production from trade routes with other civilizations or city-states, and it also provides extra gold from domestic trade routes.

The Poland downloadable pack (DLC) pack is available for $4.99, and it also includes the new scenario "Jadwiga's Legacy."
