'Civilization VI' release date news: Game to release an Anniversary Edition
The year 2016 will mark 25 years since the release of Sid Meier's "Civilization" game, and with the release of "Civilization VI," the developers have decided to come out with a limited 25th Anniversary Edition of the game.
According to PC Gamer, the Anniversary edition will have the game "Civilization VI," a 100-page hardcover art book titled "Civilization Through the Years," a special coin set, and a commemorative display case. The game also comes packaged with everything that comes with the Deluxe Edition of the game.
The Deluxe Edition of "Civilization VI" has four downloadable content (DLC) packs, the soundtrack to the game, and the Aztec Civilization pre-order bonus. For the patient gamers, the Aztec Civilization will become free for all players 90 days after the game is released.
Sid Meier talked about the success of his franchise and its steady fanbase that has been going on for 25 years. Meier's said in a statement, "The vitality of Civilization is in the new ideas that each design team brings to the game as well as the passion and feedback from an incredible community ... We hope players enjoy the vibrant living world and the new features the team has created in this latest offering. I'm proud of the work they've done, and I hope you will enjoy playing Civilization VI as much as they've enjoyed making it. Here's to the next 25 years."
"Civilization" was first released in 1991, and has since then sold about 35 million units worldwide. The game's ability to mix strategy and history make for a memorable game that fans have been enjoying for two decades and a half.
Sid Meier's "Civilization VI" is set to be released on Oct. 21, 2016, and fans can expect the Aztec Civilization bonus content to be released sometime around January 2017.
