'Chicago P.D.' season 4 spoilers: No rekindled Lindsay–Severide romance; Lindsay meets her biological father, learns a shocking truth
"Chicago P.D." returned this year with a special crossover episode with fellow Chicago-based show, "Chicago Fire," which brought Lindsay (Sophia Bush) back in the life of ex-flame, Severide (Taylor Kinney) of Firehouse 51. However, for fans who have been hoping for a rekindling of that past romance, executive producer Matt Olmstead was quick to debunk that theory.
"No, we're really happy with the chemistry and the storyline of Halstead and Lindsay," Olmstead said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly following the two-hour crossover event. But this did not mean that they are totally closing the doors on the possibility in the future, but as of this moment, Lindsay will happily stay with current partner Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer).
Speaking on a more practical note, executive producer Derek Haas added that shooting will be hard since both Bush and Kinney are currently playing major parts in every scene of their own shows.
Following the special crossover episode, "Chicago P.D." aired on its regular timeslot this week a second brand-new installment titled "Don't Read the News," which pitted the Chicago Police Department against a serial killer after discovering that their current case resembled similarities with previous ones involving young women killed by multiple gunshot wounds.
On a more personal front, Lindsay finally decided to meet up with her biological father Jimmy (Tony Crane), and found out that he had been out of prison for the past ten years, married and with two boys. How will this reunion and unexpected revelation affect Lindsay in the long run?
In episode 11 titled "You Wish," Halstead will run a DNA test on Jimmy to confirm if he is really Lindsay's father, while the Chicago Police Department will uncover a private "special police" force who may be covering up illegal activities while investigating the corpse of a mutilated sex offender.
"Chicago P.D." season 4 episode 11 will air on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
