'Chicago Fire' season 5 spoilers: New intershow romance brewing
Fans will see a new couple rise in "Chicago Fire" season 5. A new romance will fire up between Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) and detective Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda) from "Chicago PD."
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Matt Olmstead revealed the pairing and that it "started to gain some traction because of the actors."
He also detailed their plans on how the love affair, which fans would want to look forward to in "Chicago Fire" season 5, will go as the season progresses.
"There's plenty to play in terms of the May-December version of Brett to Antonio — his character has a couple kids, he's divorced, no way should he be with this woman," the EP explained.
"But she's had her heart broken. She's looking for a real man, he qualifies. He's looking for a real soul, a real heart, and she qualifies," he continued.
It will be exciting to see how it all begins in "Chicago Fire" season 5, and how the two will be like as a full-blown couple. It is also an exciting concept for Olmstead in terms of merging the shows through romance.
"We like those inter-show romances. They can be hard to facilitate scheduling-wise, but they do work," he said.
As for Dawson (Monica Raymund), "Chicago Fire" season 5 may be a change of profession. With a son that she has to take care of, a dangerous job might not be a good idea.
This is what Jesse Spencer, who plays Dawson's boyfriend Matt Casey, hinted during a chat with TVGuide. "Two people running into burning buildings is not great. Both of us could get hurt," the star said.
Filming for "Chicago Fire" season 5 has begun in time for its premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC. Production for "Chicago P.D." is also ongoing.
