'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' season 4 spoilers, cast news: Squad goes on a manhunt; Craig Robinson returns as the Pontiac Bandit
A manhunt begins on the upcoming episode of Fox's hit cop comedy series "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 4.
Titled "The Fugitive," the show's two-part midseason finale will see the squad try to catch multiple convicts. According to the official synopsis, several convicts inside a prison van escape into the streets of Brooklyn after their vehicle crashes. This sends the whole squad on a manhunt, but they might have a good chance of catching all the fugitives thanks to one key witness: Former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch (guest-starring as himself).
Meanwhile, Jake (Andy Samberg) and Amy (Melissa Fumero) try to work out a personal conflict by placing a bet on who can round up the most escaped convicts. The two cops agree that the loser has to move into the winner's apartment. In the end, when only one fugitive is still on the loose, Jake crosses paths with an unexpected ally.
It turns out that Jake's mysterious ally is someone who is also on the run. Doug Judy (Craig Robinson), the elusive car thief best known as the Pontiac Bandit, has been recently confirmed to be back for the special episode. Entertainment Weekly reports that the Pontiac Bandit is the one who assists Jake with his manhunt and helps him win his bet with Amy. Even though Jake is secretly excited to team up with the charming criminal once again, Captain Holt (Andre Braugher) doesn't think that their reunion is a good idea.
The Pontiac Bandit was last seen going away on a speedboat and evading arrest in season 3. He also made appearances in seasons 1 and 2, but the team still can't put him behind bars. Robinson is known for his roles in "The Office" and "Mr. Robot."
The fall finale of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 4 airs on Sunday, Jan. 1, at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
