Spoilers and cast updates continue rolling in for the twelfth and final season of Fox's police procedural drama "Bones." Just recently, it was confirmed that several TV veterans will be joining appearing in special episodes of the coming season.

"Bones" season 12 will pick up soon after the Zack Addy's (Eric Millegan) abduction of Brennan (Emily Deschanel). Zack may or may not be The Puppeteer, the serial killer Brennan's husband, Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz), has been searching for, but it looks as if the return of Zack will pose problems for the couple.

Zack was Brennan's intern, but his questionable attitude prompted Brennan to let him go. There are reports that Zack possibly escaped a psychiatric ward in order to get close to Brennan. However, as soon as she is set free, trouble will set in for her and Booth.

Apparently, while Brennan is in captivity, Booth will learn through her psychiatrist that she has been having nightmares about Zack. That was quite evident when the season 11 finale showed her utterly terrified of her abductor. Nevertheless, Breathecast says Brennan and Booth will fight over Zack because of differing views.

"They're going to have very different views – and it's not necessarily what you are expecting – of Zack's culpability and how much you can blame him, how one would judge him, and how one would forgive him," executive producer Jonathan Collier told TV Line.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Ed Asner, Hal Holbrook, and June Squibb (Sheldon's Meemaw in "The Big Bang Theory"), veteran TV actors all, will be joining the farewell season of "Bones."

Squibb will play the role of a cranky retirement home resident, someone no one will want to mess with. Emmy winners Asner and Holbrook will play interesting characters, as well. Asner will play Mike Mancuso who easily shifts from kind to devious while Holbrook will breathe life to a Marine veteran named Red Fletcher.

It looks like Red will be the perfect reflection of Booth, an older version of the latter. According to the character descriptions released for the three TV vets, Holbrook's Red is the ultimate depiction of Booth 40 years from the present. So it will be interesting to see the dynamics between the two characters.

"Bones" season 12 is airing sometime in 2017 on Fox.
