'Bloodline' season 3 air date news: Official cancellation announced; Danny to be focal point of upcoming installment?
"Bloodline" season 3 is officially confirmed as the last installment of the family drama streaming on Netflix. The announcement came no less than from Cindy Holland, Netflix's vice president of original content.
The sad news comes after Ben Mendelsohn, who plays Danny Rayburn on the series, won Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series at the recent Emmy Awards. Here's the official announcement, which was released through Variety.
"Bloodline season three will be the show's final season," begins Holland's confirmation. "Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Glenn Kessler are thoughtful and visionary storytellers, who lead a prestigious cast that includes Kyle Chandler and Ben Mendelsohn, who have both garnered two Emmy nominations for their roles on the series. Together, with our collaborative partners at Sony Pictures Television, they created a seductive show that Netflix viewers worldwide love and continue to discover. We are looking forward to the exciting climax KZK have in store for the series conclusion in May 2017."
There were earlier speculations that the series will get canceled due to tax incentives issues that hounded its production. The series films in the Florida Keys where it enjoys tax incentives, but the same expired a few months back, thereby putting the fate of the show in peril. It was eventually given the green light, which is why the announcement of its cancellation surprised many fans and viewers.
According to reports, "Bloodline" season 3 will focus on the consequences that the Rayburn family will face because of secrets from its past. Danny, who was killed by his brother in season 2, will return as a "ghost," and reports say the character will get more exposure in the upcoming installment.
Same reports claim that Nolan (Owen Teague), who is Danny's son, will be given a wide arc in season 3. It remains to be seen if he will turn out to be just like his father, who is the darker representation of the family, or if he will be one of the better Rayburns.
"Bloodline" season 3 is set to stream on Netflix starting May 2017.
