Blacklist Season 2 Release Date, Spoilers: Season Premiere Will See Surprising Reversals

"The Blacklist" Season 2, which premieres on Monday, Sept. 22, will see the resolution of the conflict between Berlin (Peter Stomare) and Red (James Spader), Executive Producer John Eisendrath has revealed.

"What happens is that the adversarial battle will get resolved over the course of the first half of the season which will have some surprising reversals," Eisendrath told Buddy TV.

In the Season 1 finale, the villainous Berlin sought to kill Red and his FBI blacksite team after learning that Red was the one who killed his daughter. With Red and Liz (Megan Boone) forced out of hiding, Berlin is out to avenge his daughter's death as he zeroes in on the two partners.

Red and Liz are also out to get Berlin. In the Season 1 finale, they narrowly missed catching Berlin, who showed up in the final episode of the premiere season of the NBC drama.

The show's trailer also introduces a new villain -- Lord Baltimore.

In the trailer, Red tells Liz that Lord Baltimore could be the key to finding Berlin.

The question arises: What is Lord Baltimore planning to do? Why is he in town?

In the trailer, Red takes a phone call from Lord Baltimore who tells him to "do to her what you did to my daughter. I'm going to send her back to you piece by piece."

But who is her? Has Liz been kidnapped?

The threat by Lord Baltimore also suggests that Red is Liz's father. The Season 1 finale provided a clue to this when it showed burn scars on Red's back, just like the ones on Liz's arm which she got from a fire that struck their home when she was still young.

Moreover, Tom, while dying, told Liz that her father is still alive, prompting fans to speculate that Red was Liz's father. Liz's father was allegedly killed in a fire while rescuing her.

Fans will have to tune in on "Blacklist" Season 2 to find out if Red and Liz can stop Berlin also the truth about Liz's parentage.

Spader, however, asked fans to temper their expectations when Season 2 opens. "That story has not been extrapolated on," he said. "That's something to just let percolate for a bit. Elizabeth Keen has spoken of a memory of being in a fire when she was a child, and somebody pulled her out of that fire. She may be assuming that it's her father, but we've never said whether it's her father or not."
