'Better Call Saul' season 3 cast, spoilers news 2016: Bob Odenkirk confirms 'Breaking Bad' villain in S3

A "Breaking Bad" villain is coming to "Better Call Saul" season 3, series star Bob Odenkirk has revealed.

In a recent appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Odenkirk confirmed what "Better Call Saul" fans have been suspecting since the season 2 finale aired: Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito), the notorious drug kingpin and cold-blooded killer from cult favorite "Breaking Bad," will star in the upcoming third season. "Better Call Saul" is a spin-off/prequel to "Breaking Bad."

Around the time that the "Better Call Saul" season 2 finale aired, viewers figured out that a clever little message had been hidden in the season's episode titles. When the first letters of each episode were put together, they spelled out "Fring's Back."

Speaking with Kimmel, Odenkirk confirmed that this was indeed pointing to Esposito's season 3 starring role.

"I'm looking for him," Odenkirk said of Fring. "He's coming back," he added.

Fring isn't the first "Breaking Bad" character to cameo in "Better Call Saul." The spinoff's first two seasons have already seen "Breaking Bad" character reprisals from Raymond Cruz (as Tuco Salamanca), Mark Margolis (as Hector "Tío" Salamanca), Kyle Bornheimer (as Ken), and Maximino Arciniega (as Domingo "Krazy-8" Molina) among others.

Odenkirk also spoke about when fans can expect to see Fring, saying, "I imagine he'll be in the first moment..."

Additionally, the "Better Call Saul" star teased the upcoming season in an interview with The Wrap. "This season is gonna be about how innocence gets torn away," he said and added, "We learn that Saul is just who he's pretending to be to get back at the world... Season 3 is when things will really explode."

The actor, who is currently nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category, commented on the show's success and Emmy nominations, saying that he and the rest of the "Saul" team "lucked out."

"If ['Breaking Bad'] had gone on for 200 seasons like a lot of people would have done, we wouldn't have the good will we needed to take our time to get into these characters and dial you into this very delicate, sensitively written story," he explained.

AMC has yet to announce the official premiere date for "Better Call Saul" season 3, but it is expected to debut sometime in early 2017.
