"Bachelor in Paradise" season 3, which aired its finale on Tuesday, Sept. 6, capped off an eventful chapter with a record number of engagements as ABC announced that it has given the green light to a "Bachelor in Paradise" season 4.

ABC made the announcement during the "After Paradise" after-show that aired on Tuesday following a drama-filled "Bachelor in Paradise" season 3. "Bachelor in Paradise" is a spin-off of the popular reality dating competitions "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette."

In the season 3 finale, three couples ended up getting engaged while one went their separate ways.

The four remaining couples going into the finale were Amanda Stanton and Josh Murray, Jen Saviano and Nick Viall, Carly Waddell and Evan Bass, and Lace Morris and Grant Kemp.

Waddell and Bass were the first to swap final roses. The couple was followed by Morris and Kemp, who also ended the season as a happily engaged pair. Stanton and Murray, the fourth couple, also ended their "Bachelor in Paradise" stint on a happy note. Murray, the brother of NFL quarterback Aaron Murray, was previously engaged to Andi Dorfman, the main character in "The Bachelorette" season 10.

Sadly, but not unexpectedly, Jen Saviano and Nick Viall split up, with Viall turning down Saviano's proposal. Last week, ABC confirmed that Viall, a two-time "The Bachelorette" runner-up, has been cast as the next Bachelor.

"I wanted to say I was in love with you, but something in my heart just said I can't," Viall told Saviano. "Sometimes you wish you could tell your heart what to do, and if I could, I would tell it to choose you. I just feel like something's telling me to say goodbye. I'm sorry."

Meanwhile, though Stanton and Murray appeared to be a happy couple in the season 3 finale, a source claims that the two have had a "tough road" since "Bachelor in Paradise" was filmed.

"Josh and Amanda are still engaged, but it's been a tough road," the insider told Entertainment Tonight. "They have broken up a couple times since getting home and have had a rough start to their relationship," the insider added.

ABC has not announced the official release date for "Bachelor in Paradise" season 4.
