'Avengers: Infinity War' release date, plot rumors 2016: Christ Pratt will be a 'major player' in the movie

Fans have known for a while that "The Avengers: Infinity War" will feature the Guardians of the Galaxy, but they didn't know to what extent. A rumor has come out that Peter Quill aka Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) will have a more "sizable" role in the movie, meaning more screen time for the former "Parks and Recreation" star.

Rumors suggest that Quill will supposedly be one of the first Guardians to appear in the movie. Some guess that it will be Quill who comes to Earth to warn the Avengers of the impending danger, seeing as he is the only earthling in the group.

Knowing that Quill was plucked out of the planet in the '80s, the movie can poke fun at him for being a man out of time — just like Captain America (Chris Evans).

The movie will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, and they have reportedly started work with Josh Brolin, who plays Thanos. Thanos was first introduced in a mid-credits scene in "The Avengers" back in 2012 but he had a more prominent role in "Guardians of the Galaxy" in 2014. The production will use motion-capture work to bring the Marvel villain to life.

The movie is said to borrow heavily from the Marvel Comic, "Infinity Gauntlet," where Thanos used the titular weapon to wipe out half the population of the entire universe. One big character trait for Thanos is his devotion to Death, and his act of destroying all life was a means to impress her.

The personification of Death is said to appear in the movie and the character will be female. Some fans have noticed that Cate Blanchett's Hela, who will be appearing in "Thor: Ragnarok," can be a viable substitute for a character as abstract as Death, but there have been no confirmations from the Studio.

"Avengers: Infinity War" will come out on May 4, 2018.
