'Avengers: Infinity War' release date and news: Marvel head Kevin Feige discusses movie and future of MCU
As of now, audiences are still anticipating the release of Marvel Studios' "Doctor Strange" but production for the upcoming "Avengers: Infinity War" is already underway. Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige took the time to talk about the movie and the future Marvel movies that would come after "Infinity War."
In an interview with Collider, Feige elaborated on the shooting schedule for "Infinity War" which is shooting side-by-side with the still untitled fourth "Avengers" movie. He said, "Well without being super specific cameras start rolling in January and will continue rolling in some form or another through October, November." He also said that though they are shooting at the same time, the production level and creative level of the two movies are being treated separately.
Feige also confirmed that there will be some new players in the story. Some fans speculated that Adam Warlock would finally be making an appearance in the film. In the comics, Warlock was one of the major players (if not the major player) when it came to defeating the Mad Titan, Thanos.
His cocoon was already teased in the mid-credits scene for "Thor: The Dark World," but he has yet to make an actual appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). With the introduction of mystical elements in "Doctor Strange," it's quite possible that Adam Warlock may be finding his way to the big screen; he does specialize in magic after all.
As for the future of the MCU movies, Feige said that they have some rough plans for some movies that they want to release in 2020. As of now, there have been no updates on the "Inhumans" movie, and Feige has also teased that there could possibly a "Captain America" that doesn't involve Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) — after all, him giving back the shield to Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) in "Civil War" was supposed to mean that he was no longer Captain America.
"Avengers: Infinity War" is set for a release on May 4, 2018.
